RESCOBOND (A): Maintenance Refractories for the Aluminum Industry
Aluminum plants often need to come down from service due to refractories that had premature service life or an unexpected failure, and if this occurs frequently or before a planned outage this could become very costly. Resco has a line of product called Rescobond which are designed specifically to help shorten this down time and keep the production moving. The Rescobond product line has a unique bonding formulation that has been used in many different industries and are a proven premier patching mix. These products can be “hot patched” (installed on a furnace that is still hot) and will adhere to the current refractory to provide a new uniform lining. This allows the plant to continue producing aluminum until the next planned outage where the linings can be replaced properly. Refractory maintenance can be needed in every area of aluminum production and Resco has multiple options to best fit any area of concern.
Rescobond 3000 (A)/(AG)
RESCOBOND 3000A G is an aluminum-resistant, air-setting, chemically bonded mix that is formulated for molten aluminum contact applications. This product can be cast as a main lining in a variety of applications, but its most redeeming quality is the ability to bond to existing refractory as a premier patching product. RESCOBOND 3000 A/3000 AG with its aluminum resistance can be used as a patching mix in all areas of the aluminum furnace or anywhere else with molten aluminum contact. This brand has been formulated to be a single component mix that can be installed by vibration casting or conventional gunning methods in hot or cold applications.

Rescobond 70 (AG)
RESCOBOND 70AG is a high alumina chemically bonded gunning mix formulated for molten aluminum maintenance applications. This mix is an upgrade from the RESCOBOND 3000 AG mix with a higher alumina content that leads it to be more refractory in molten aluminum contact while still maintaining the Rescobond characteristic ability to bind to existing refractory and to be used in patching hot furnaces. This product can be used as patching mix in all areas of the aluminum furnace or anywhere else with molten aluminum contact. This product can be installed by conventional gunning and hand packing methods.

Rescobond Brush Mix (AA22)/(Dry)
Rescobond Brush Mix is a slurry material that comes in either a dry version or a premixed version (AA22) and is ideal for strengthening existing refractory lining surfaces. It can be applied up to ¼” thick providing increased refractory protection without a great loss of volume to your unit. This product has been successfully used in troughs and transfer lines and can be used almost anywhere that a smaller repair is needed. This product should be kept on hand at every plant in case a quick repair is needed; the dry version has increased shelf life and comes in a ready to mix bucket, just add water and mix thoroughly. The consistency of both mixes can be adjusted to fit the needs of the installer by mixing in additional water or using slightly less water in the dry version. This product can be applied with a brush, trowel, rubber float, roller, sprayer, etc. depending on the area of application and the installers preference. It hardens in air and becomes non-hydroscopic when heated to only 250 - 300°F which will allow production to continue almost seamlessly.
